I have heard that from many people. The truth is that you are never too old to develop your functional fitness and capability. In fact, it becomes even more important to do so as you age.
Aging is a steady deterioration of the muscles and joints. The older we get, the more muscle mass we lose, the less flexible we become, the weaker we get, the less our joints are supported, the more we get injured, and the longer it takes for recovery. It can be a steady decline in functional capability to the point where we are no longer able to get out of a chair without assistance, carry bags of groceries up a flight of stairs, place a heavy object up on a shelf, pick up a grandchild, etc.
Functional fitness training can substantially reduce and even reverse this deterioration and keep you functionally capable throughout your adult life and well into your senior years.
Have you ever wondered why some 70 and 80 year olds are still physically independent while others are forced to sit by the window in a Nursing home? It’s not because they are “lucky”, but because they maintained their functional capability and never proclaimed “I’m too old for this”!
How do YOU want to spend your senior years?
