Make training a priority

Lives can get very busy. With so many demands placed upon us we sometimes feel that we could not find the time (or money) for a training program.

The advantage of a functional fitness training program is that is does not require a great deal of time. Unlike the typical “body builder” routines seen in all the fitness magazines, you do not have to spend long hours in the gym doing countless sets of exercises for each individual muscle. You also don’t have to spend an hour monotonously running on a treadmill.

Functional training involves full body (compound) movements. They can be done in a circuit or for strength, for a shorter period of time, at a higher intensity. Not only does this increase overall strength and strength endurance, but also cardio endurance. A complete workout, including mobility and flexibility work, can be accomplished in an hour. This should be done at least three times per week.

Three hours per week! Is it possible that you can find the time for this? Even with travel to and from the training facility, it is not a great deal of time. How much time can you take away from current unproductive activities for the benefit of your long term health and fitness?

What is more important than your health? Without it, you cannot enjoy anything else! We can get so caught up in the pursuit of money and material things. We can spend so much time and money maintaining those things, upgrading them and repairing them. What about our bodies? Material things come and go, but our bodies are something we have only one of and we can never replace them. Shouldn’t we do our best to maintain them to the best of our ability in order to protect our quality of life?

Once you make training a priority and see the benefits of doing so, it will become a lifestyle choice. It will become something that you love to do. It will improve the quality of your life and everything else that you do.

Do yourself and your loved ones a favor … make training a priority!
