Beer is Not Paleo!

If you are on a "Paleo" diet or trying to do so as much as possible, then you are probably trying to avoid grains (gluten).

There is plenty of info (on this site and others) on grains, so you are probably aware of all the health issues related to Gluten. From weight gain / retention to auto-immune disorders and leaky gut, grains in all forms have been found to be responsible.

In case you are either unaware or living in denial, I have to advise you that most beers are made with grains!  Regular consumption of beer is no different than the regular consumption of bread and pasta ... except for the "buzz" and wonderful hangovers associated with beer, lol!

So although a nice frosty beer on a hot Summer day is a wonderful treat, a six-pack-a-day habit is definitely going to cover your own six pack ... they don't call it a "beer gut" for nothing!

Moderation is important, especially if your goal is to show off your abdominal six pack at the beach this summer.  If your goal is to actually get a six pack (or at least drop that tire around your waist), then you will have to find something else to get your "buzz" for a while.

Some men might think red wine isn't "manly", but it was good enough for the Vikings, and they were pretty "macho".  As for liquor, 100% agave Tequila is 100% Paleo and goes very well with limes.  Check out this recipe from Rob Wolfe for the "NorCal Maruerita".  Most other liquors are made with grains.  Here is a Paleo Alcohol Guide for more info.

For another good reason to not drink beer, listen to this video on "Why Men Should Never Drink Beer":

"If you’re a man and want to lower your testosterone levels, grow man boobs, big belly and get more feminine – continue to drink beer. Beer is known as a manly drink, but in actuality beer is perhaps one of the most powerful estrogenic drinks on the Earth."

Cheers!
